Four people face drug charges for methamphetamine in Rochester

Drug issues are prevalent in Rochester and throughout New York. As law enforcement makes every effort to interfere with drug crimes and make arrests, the people who are confronted with allegations of possessing, manufacturing or selling drugs are inevitably cast in a negative light. Simply because there was an arrest, however, does not mean that the person or persons charges are guilty. Crafting a viable defense to avoid a drug conviction is critical in any case, but when the charges involve the manufacture and sell of a serious drug like methamphetamine and they are felonies, it is even more imperative.

A deputy who saw people outside a vehicle in a parking lot in the early-morning hours at around 3 a.m. investigated and made an arrest on methamphetamine charges. Other officers were called and found a 38-year-old woman who was armed with a knife and possessed marijuana. As they investigated the vehicle, a 28-year-old man gave a fraudulent identity. He was hiding that he was on parole and had absconded. Another woman, 33, arrived. When they searched where she came from, they found items that were believed to be used for methamphetamine manufacturing. Another person was spotted. He fled and the 31-year-old male was later found hiding in a home and was arrested.

When the items used for methamphetamine were found, police were forced to back away because the material is believed to be hazardous. Specialists were called to go through the items, identify them and remove them. Three of the people arrested face felony charges related to methamphetamine manufacturing, illegally disposing of material for a methamphetamine lab and other charges. The fourth person also faces the same felony charges and other charges for the false identification. The investigation is continuing.

With felony drug charges related to methamphetamine and its manufacture, it is essential to understand the potential penalties that can be doled out when there is a conviction. The amount the person had and whether he or she is cooperative with law enforcement can go a long way toward possibly reducing the charges. It is also possible that the case is lacking in evidence or those charged are not guilty. Before believing that an arrest on drug crimes will automatically result in conviction and a radically changed and damaged life, having legal help is key. Calling a law firm that has extensive experience in defense for drug crimes should be the first step.
